After my last service call, it was wonderful to stay “home” today. I would much rather be here. The Psalm for today echoes my feelings entirely.
Psalm 84: 10-12
10For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than live in the tents of wickedness.
11For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
he bestows favour and honour.
No good thing does the Lord withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
There’s a challenge here: “from those who walk uprightly”. I suppose the fail-safe here is simply this: We try to walk uprightly. This doesn’t mean we don’t fall.
12O Lord of hosts,
happy is everyone who trusts in you.
Ah. The “trust” factor. I’m certainly not one of the “Pollyanna” folks. But I do agree. I’m much happier when I trust in The One In Charge.
